As you may be aware, the iSchool’s Fall 2020 course schedule has been updated, along with all other departments on campus. This was done under the guidance of campus leadership to offer you (students who attend on-campus programs) a mix of in-person courses (i.e., courses that will have an in-person component), and increased course offerings online. (We refer to this as “course modality”)
The campus will release the updated schedule of classes for Fall 2020 on July 20. At that time, you will be able to review your course schedule in your MyUW Student Center (my.wisc.edu), and can see if there are any changes you need to make to your fall schedule, using the Course Search and Enroll app.
Definition of Different Types of Modality, for the purposes of this document:
- In-person: Has some in-person meeting times. Please note that the portion of the class that will be in-person, will be up to each instructor in the iSchool and may vary course to course.
- Remote Synchronous: Entirely remote. Students are expected to participate in online lectures, discussions, labs or activities synchronously during scheduled meeting times.
- Remote Asynchronous: Entirely remote. Students are engaging regularly every week with the instructor, course content, activities, assignments, etc., but are not required to meet with the class synchronously in a scheduled meeting-time pattern.
Steps for Undergraduate Students Enrolled in iSchool Courses with in-person component (e.g., class meetings, discussion/lab sections in person):
- Please review your course schedule in your MyUW Student Center (my.wisc.edu) to determine if there are any changes to the modality of the courses you registered for.
- Drop and/or add courses as necessary so that you are registered for the courses you desire, in the modality that you prefer (In-person, Remote Synchronous, or Remote Asynchronous).
