Associate Professor Rebekah Willett awarded grant to support home learning for high-need families

Designing Home Learning Materials for High-Need Families: Lessons from/for Museums and Libraries

Rebekah Willett

Rebekah Willett, Associate Professor at the iSchool, will co-direct a project with Peter Wardrip, Assistant Professor of STEAM Education in Curriculum and Instruction, to investigate how libraries and museums can better support home learning for high-needs families. The pair secured a $243,700 CARES Act Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The grant will address a key challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic by developing tools and resources to help museum and library professionals design, implement, curate, and assess online learning resources. The project will analyze existing online learning resources offered by museums and libraries and develop templates, rubrics, and practitioner briefs that summarize best practices and lessons learned. The results will help museum and library educators be more responsive to disadvantaged families and extend educational programming to their whole community. Congratulations, Professor Willett!
