Internships are another way to build your hands-on skills and experiences while you are a graduate student and help you to be a competitive applicant on the job market.

Since many internships are offered during the summer, it’s important that you apply for internships soon after you start your graduate program.  Many summer internships have application deadlines in the fall or early spring.

Don’t be afraid to identify potential places where you’d like to intern and contact them! Hunt around online for institutions you would like experience with. Many websites will have an internship opportunities page, but it also never hurts to email someone and ask.
