Advisor: Corey Jackson

Where are you from?

South Korea

How did you become interested in data and information?

I worked at a trading company as a sales manager, and I realized the power of data through various experiences of conducting Business Analytics. I wanted to learn more advanced skills and knowledge about data and information management which can make a real-world impact.

How does the iSchool complement your research area/interests?

My research interests are in HCI (human-computer interaction) and CSCW (computer-supported cooperative work). The University of Wisconsin-Madison iSchool has many faculty members who are actively conducting their research projects related to my research interests. I believe I can develop my research interests by cooperating and networking with them.

What are you excited to explore in Madison?

Scenic views, food, and people

What’s one thing you wish you had known before applying to Ph.D. programs?

Career-wise, it would have been easier for me to navigate a suitable career track if I realized that I was more interested in academia rather than industry.
